Yanqing National Sliding Center – Pre-homologation starts on 26 October

Lausanne (RWH) The Pre-homologation of the Yanqing National Sliding Center, sliding sports venue at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022,  start on 26 October. Given the uncertainty around travel restrictions worldwide, the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF agreed with the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 (BOCOG) to conduct the pre-homologation-runs with Chinese bobsleigh and skeleton athletes only.

The IBSF will participate with Bobsleigh Delegate Jos Mattli and Skeleton Delegate Michael Grünberger, accompanied by Gatis Guts and Medical Committee Chairman Dr. Christian Schneider. Members of the IBSF track committee will observe the technical aspects. Additionally, President Ivo Ferriani will attend the pre-homologation. IBSF TV coordinator Maarten Verstraete will prepare a video of the pre-homologation runs which will be shared with all IBSF member federations afterwards.

All of these persons will have to follow the rules of quarantine, hygiene and protection against infection as set forth by the Organizing Committee.

The test runs until 1 November serve to test the field of play. The homologation process validates the safety and drivability of the track as well as serves as a check on the infrastructure, logistic aspects and work flow.
