Qualification races for German national teams start in Winterberg and Altenberg

Winterberg/Altenberg (RWH) With qualifying races in Winterberg and Altenberg the decisive phase before the World Cup winter begins for the German bobsleigh and skeleton athletes.

For the first races of the BMW IBSF World Cup, to be held in Sigulda (LAT) from mid-November onwards, the Skeleton World Champions Tina Hermann and Christopher Grotheer are already nominated. In bobsleigh, 2-man and 4-man World Champion Francesco Friedrich as well as Johannes Lochner, who won silver at the BMW IBSF World Championships 2020, have also secured their starting places. This was announced by the German federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland).

The national qualification for the athletes in bobsleigh sport kick-off in Winterberg from 19 to 25 October. The teams will then travel to Altenberg from 1 to 7 November. The final qualification, planned for Königssee (8 to 14 November) will also be rated as German Championships.

The Skeleton athletes have their first two qualification races in Altenberg (22 and 23 October). Afterwards they will go to Sigulda (LAT, 29.10.). After the final qualification and German Championship on 7 November in Winterberg, head coach Christian Baude will nominate his team for the new season. ©RWH2020
